Improving the layout of your operations can boost your efficiency and reduce costs. An efficient facility layout can increase flow of work, information and material around the site. A facility not designed with safety, quality and efficiency in mind, can limit production, slow processes and impact overall profitability. The choice of a facility layout design is a complicated decision involving multiple criteria. The safety, quality and effectiveness of the manufacturing process relies on the layout planning design.
Come be engaged in a lively Breakfast Series discussion of the key components for an efficient facility layout. Topics will include:
- Principles of a good layout
- Layout prework including:
– Calculating the takt rate
– Sizing of materials within a layout
– Amount of equipment needed
– Number of people needed
– Overall space requirement
- Creating the layout
– Examples of both assembly and process-based layouts will be shown
– Applying visuals to the layout
